kings

I suppose it could be the current election frenzy. For some reason, I have been drawn to the books of 1 & 2 Kings. In the past when I have read them, I've just blown through and haven't quite gotten the full political climate. I must confess I'm not as familiar with that era as I would like to be. It's confusing. Northern Kingdom, Southern Kingdom, Samaria, Jerusalem... This time, I made a list and tried to keep everybody in order and in the right place ( I still don't think I have it right). It was interesting to take a look at it from an historical point of view. We think politics is bad now. One of the things that got my attention was how many of them "did what was evil in the Lord's sight". Then again, not much different these days, huh?. It's a wonder we weren't destroyed a long time ago. God is definitely patient.
