anticipation

I don't know if anybody looks at this or not. But just in case you do, I thought I'd post a link to the blog for our mission trip. Feel free to pass it on to anyone you think might be interested.

MISSION: Ecuador '09

I have been fascinated by the stories I've read that have taken place years ago in Ecuador. The effort to reach the Waodani Indians is probably the most famous. Having read Through Gates of Splendor, I jumped at the chance to check out Jungle Pilot. It is the story of Nate Saint. He was a pilot for Missionary Aviation Fellowship who was integral in the plan. I finished it today and there were a few letters written by him toward the end of the book. Here is a brief excerpt:

As we have a high old time this Christmas, may we who know Christ hear the cry of the damned as they hurtle headlong into the Christless night without ever a chance. If God would grant us the vision, the word "sacrifice" would disappear from our lips and thoughts; we would hate the things that seem now so dear to us; our lives would suddenly be too short, we would despise time-robbing distractions and charge the enemy with all our energies in the name of Christ.

I know I'm nowhere near that guy, yet.
