look ma
As I made my way to work this morning, I noticed a few bike riders on the other side of the road heading toward me. The first were on a double bike. It's not everyday you see one of those so that caught my attention. These guys were serious bikers. They had the aerodynamic clothes and helmets. Several more passed by and then I noticed the next one. He had his hands completely off the handlebars! I found myself extremely envious but was immediately taken back to about age 9. I had seen some other guys try this so I thought "It can't be too hard". How wrong I was. The ensuing crash was spectacular. I was on a gravel road so... well, you get the picture. There were quite a few pieces of gravel to dig out of my elbows and knees. I think the skin has finally healed on the palms of my hands. I never was able to ride a bike with no hands, although I recently tried but only lasted a nanosecond before getting scared and grabbing back on. After seeing that guy this morning, I had one of those thoughts that probably comes from above. How often is my life lived like that? Just flying along with no control over anything. Then it occurred to me...

Hey Kev,
I like the new look. This post took me back to a time Shawn got a speedometer on his bike. I had to ride it and check it out for myself. Getting up into the double digit MPH's (I knew because I was watching nothing but the speedometer) I veered from the street and directly into a trailer parked in our neighbor's yard. Needless to say, I'm surprised I was ever able to have a kid. OUCH!
Great analogy at the end!
