Hot Water
The picture below is from the town of Banos. No, it doesn't mean bathroom. It means bath. It is at the foot of the volcano so the ground water there is hot. This is where we gathered for a public worship service on the town square. Some of the songs were in English and some were in Spanish. I don't know why, but that was a profound moment for me. It was amazing to see worshippers from very different worlds joining together as one to praise our Great God. There were a few in the group who spoke (through translators) with random people standing around. The history from this place is shocking. We were told some of the locals still worship the volcano. One of the churches even had a wooden earthquake god in it. Supposedly, it had to be replaced after termites ate it. What better place to shine the light of the gospel. As I typed this, I remembered what day it is. Don't forget the freedom that was purchased for us by Jesus.
