Retro(re)spect

We went to some friends' of ours last night. We had talked about having some type of communion service the last time we were together. It had been a while since I had done it at our church and when it was brought up, I realized I had been neglecting it. We weren't exactly sure how to go about it, so the account in Luke 22 was read and we prayed and really focused in on what it meant to us. It was a very deep moment. There were only five of us sitting around a table, so we were able to share intimately how Christ's obedience on the cross has changed our lives. Also, there was no rush to get through with it. I heard a pastor say once that no where in scripture are we called to remember the birth of Jesus, yet we spend at least two months doing that. But we are called to remember His death regularly...

We just sat there, letting the magnitude sink in. Definitely a rich experience.
