I read this book last winter. I had heard about the incident several times but didn't know many of the facts surrounding the events that led up to it. I recently flipped through the book again and couldn't help but have the same feeling I had the first time I read it. Apparently, my faith is rather small because I'm not yet at the point where I'm willing to die for someone that wants to kill me in order for them to hear the gospel. It is incredibly moving to witness such deep devotion to the Lord. It puts a lot into perspective to be reminded of men (and women) like that. Seriously... think about it. Put yourself in that river with a gun in your pocket but not using it because your attacker didn't know Jesus. All that mattered was to tell the Aucas(natives) about the good news. It really is a great book. To know that there were/are people like that. Amazing.
